I had the honor, of not only getting to be my best friends Maid of Honor, but of also, getting to make the dress for her big day. She wanted something that was inspired by her late mother's wedding dress, that was simple, and timeless. The real challenge came when it was time to start fittings. I live in Houston, TX and she lives in Minnesota. We planned fittings around the holidays and trips home to see my family. And, we were on a tight schedule of a six month engagement. Despite the challenges we were able to pull together a beautiful dress to make her day perfect.
Fear is the driving force of our lives. Our innate survival instincts run on fear. We are hard wired to be afraid of things that may harm us or things that we cannot understand. It has kept the human race alive, and as our world got safer, the fear found new homes. Fear of water, fear of small spaces, fear of failure, the list goes on. But, the beautiful thing is, we are also hardwired to keep trying, to not let the fear win. When we rise above our fears is when greatness happens.
